His Eyes Don't Have It...

Tuesday was eye doctor day. Even though Darell’s left eye does not hurt him anymore it continues to cause him problems. There are still 2 active shingles in it and a lot of scare tissue. Currently Darell cannot see clearly from his left eye. He sees blurry or double vision but when it works with his right eye he can see. Crazy, but his right eye is basically working for both of them. So he is back on more eye drops to try and defeat the shingles again. Then we are onto wait and see how his vision clears up after that. His vision issues can be from the medicines he is on or from the scare tissue or both. We won’t know for awhile. It could clear up; need a different prescription for his glasses or possibly surgery.

His energy is still not back but better then last week. His next chemo is on the 8th. On Wednesday we see his oncologist to get the results of the CAT scan. We pray that he will only need six chemo treatments not eight or more. I think we are going to do something fun this weekend since he has a little energy. With next weekend being Mother’s Day we know that he will be taking it easy from the chemo treatment. He has a busy week next week with a Mariner’s game with his dad and brother on Tuesday. Doctor’s appointment Wednesday and then chemo on Thursday will just wipe him out again.

David is doing well. He has been a handful but I think he just needs to play outside if spring would finally get here. His new food group is great. He is making an effort in class and we are able to add a few more things at home. He has a long way to go but I think we are moving forward some. I meet with our school district person next week to talk about screening him for developmental preschool in the fall. I really hope he qualifies. School will be so good for him but he needs the structured environment and trained teachers that know how to deal with his sensory issues. He is a smart little boy but he is challenged by himself.

People have asked me what about me? Well I just try and make it from day to day. I have long pasted the point of being tired.
